Wild Bill Moves Up to CUNY Central

GC President Bill Kelly was named interim chancellor of the CUNY system last night.  This morning, he issued a formal statement announcing the move to the Grad Center community.  It reads:

Dear Friends,

At an Executive Committee meeting yesterday afternoon,  the CUNY Board of Trustees appointed me Interim Chancellor, effective July 1.  A national search will be conducted to identify Chancellor Matthew Goldstein’s permanent successor.

I’m grateful for the Board’s confidence and humbly embrace this opportunity to serve our great university.  Across the last fourteen years, we have benefited mightily from Chancellor Goldstein’s sterling leadership.  In this new role, I hope to profit from his example.

I have recommended to Chancellor Goldstein the appointment of Provost Chase Robinson as Interim President of the Graduate Center.

Thank you, my dear friends, for your support during this important transition at the University.

Warmest regards,

Bill

We have no doubt you’ll “profit” from Chancellor Goldtein’s example, Bill.  We’re happy to see you’re already speaking the language of 80th Street.
